Bikini Booty Lift Challenge

Honestly, nothing pulls together a nice body like a nice TUSH!

But here's the ironic part... most people overlook one of the biggest muscles because it's the very thing we sit on ALL day! Whether your at work, driving TO work, busy on the computer, vegging on the couch catching up on The Bachelor (you know who you are!!), or sleeping, our butts are WAY UNDER USED!

So it's time to SUCK it up and MOVE IT MOVE IT!!

It's been a recent goal of mine to really put more effort into my backside, not just here and there, but to actually commit to doing it several times a week.

And after really putting in FULL effort the last few weeks, I have seen UHHMAZING results -- and I'm barely getting WARMED UP. I wish I had my before photos for you all, but for now, this will have to do!

BUT I want to share it with you guys! I love love my followers and I really look forward to trying something, and being able to share it and show you what works and doesn't (at least for me)

So in celebration of my followers, I am throwing a...

I haven't really done a fitness challenge in a while specific for a certain body part.. I mostly go with at home programs I know people can do on their own time that will target just about every body part.

However, I know having a nice butt is HARD to attain and honestly ladies, it ain't easy.

BUTT it's my goal to help YOU get the butt you want in less time.

Why?

Because I know how it feels to not want to try on bikinis, I know the feeling of putting on shorts and feeling like either your ass is gana swallow them when you walk or your thighs are gana chafe.

I also know what it feels like to see a mirror in the dressing room that features your back side and you can see it in the front mirror... and the look on your face is like "Shit.."

I know the feeling of putting on yoga pants but seeing that extra tiny fold right under your butt cheeks --I call that double the trouble.

I know the feeling of standing next to that fit chick right next to you and going "damn what does SHE do?!"

I know the feeling of, " I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET THAT BOOTY!"

And guess what? Myself and another amazing trainer named Leandro are going to make you feel like this instead:

Damn. My ass looks good. Trying on bikinis isn't so bad now... I can grab a smaller short size. My ass is rounder! Pool party? I'm in! I can walk and my butt isn't hungry for my shorts. SCORE.

So what are we going to do in this challenge? How long is it? What do I need to get? How do we keep in contact?

I realize there are a LOT of questions regarding this, but FIRST things FIRST...

Stop the YO YO Weight loss and Weight Gain and Get LASTING Results!

Have you ever YO YOed with your weight and results before??? Are you wondering how to find BALANCE between eating healthy but still living it up with your favorite foods? Since so many of you ask how I did it this year losing 21lbs TOTAL since July… READ ON my dear friends:

This past weekend I was SURROUNDED by lovely temptations… (especially Starbucks)… it was NOT EASY at first, and I definitely treated myself to one of those banana chocolate chip bread loaf thingies from Sbux (you know what I'm talking about??) but I held strong 90% of the time. I brought my own food (lentils, brown rice, tangerines, fig bars, almond bars, and salads) and even squeezed in a pretty good workout… and it's not because I'm obsessed with a number on a scale, but because I'm committed to my results…

I made the mistake before of being lackadaisical after I had great results because I felt entitled to a "treat here and there" << but that became much more frequent than it should have! Lesson learned. If you want the YO YO cycle to STOP, you HAVE to STOP doing the things that tripped you up before, and START doing the things that will move you forward! It's not about taking things out of your diet to drive yourself insane (think balance and once a week cheat treats). BUT it is about eating for the results you WANT… if you want different results, you have to approach it differently then you did before.

I told my coaches this weekend that my transformation was about balance… I still indulged in my In-N-Out and even Phils BBQ for all you local San Diegans  (this is a once a month thing for me, I freakin love burgers) and had my treats here and there, but I remained focused about 90% of the time. I still get to eat and enjoy the foods that I like, and I also get to learn how to make my favorite things healthier. It's a win win> You get to still have your treats here and there (whether thats pizza, wine or burgers), you feel the benefits of being healthy and happy, you see results and you look great. Who wouldn't want that?! Stop the YO YO, find the balance and LIVE it up! Because I love food just as much as you do (maybe even more!)

Here's a few simple steps to RID yourself of the YO YO:

1. It all starts with your MIND. Yeah, you read that right. Your M-I-N-D! Your mind has the power to do anything you ask it to. You need to learn to FOCUS on whats important which is where you are HEADED and the PRESENT moment! Note that when you are focused on the present moment and how you can improve yourself today compared to who you were yesterday, you will always surprise yourself! So start being your biggest cheerleader and coach. Cheer yourself on when you think you can't go anymore, coach yourself when you need to be pushed. Instead of thinking to yourself, "I don't think I'll ever lose the weight, its too hard, I will always be stuck with love handles/big butt/wide hips/chunky thighs/etc" start saying, "I have work to do, and if I wait any longer it will get harder. So I'm going to take advantage of TODAY and make smart choices that honor my goals and my body!" <<< and you will DO IT!!

2. Make a VERBAL and PUBLIC commitment: Scary right? GOOD you should be nervous, excited, and use that scared feeling and turn into adrenaline to get you going. You are going to need to mentally tough it out on the days you don't want to. My advice, SUCK IT UP. YOU'VE GOT A BODY THAT YOU HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH, STOP TRASHING IT. Tell the people you love, the people who care about you (friends and family) your plans. If they meet you with opposition, say this, " I know you may not understand why I'm doing this, I don't need you to 'get it' I just need you to support me. I need accountability and I want to accomplish ______. I only ask that you are supportive in a positive way!" If they can't get beside or behind you, don't take it personally. This isn't THEIR journey, it's YOURS. It's for YOU.

3. STOP TRYING TO IMPRESS OTHER PEOPLE. AHH this is my favorite. It's YOUR journey, don't do it to prove someone else wrong. You know what Im talking about. People from high school that may have wronged you, or your college roomies. It's not about them. This is your body, your journey, and these are your goals. If you're always doing something for someone else, you will be left in the negative. Focus on how working out and eating clean makes YOU feel. For once, let it be about YOU.

4. Get ACCOUNTABLE: Whether you want someone like me ( a Beachbody coach) or a friend, having someone do it with you, well… that makes it WAY MORE FUN!!! And if you're miserable the whole time, what are the odds you are going to stick it out? Truth is, you're going to have HARD days ahead of you. I would be lying if I said it was a cake walk (pun intended). It's not easy, and if you want it to be easy, you don't' want it bad enough. The struggle makes you grateful for what you earn, and you will NOT want to cheat on your results with bad choices. Feel me? So if you want me to coach you through your journey, all you have to do is click here, and then fill this out. That easy! And I love my customers, I want to help you, YES you, the person reading this, achieve your dreams and goals. WHY? Because I was once in your shoes and I NEEDED that help. Do not wait to make a change, you can do  it now!

I could probably list a zillion steps to do it, but lets start with 4. Lets keep it simple and easier on you. I believe you have what it takes to change, all you have to do is allow yourself to do believe too!

14 Resolutions That Could Actually Stick!

res·o·lu·tion
ËŒrezəˈlo͞oSHÉ™n/
noun
1.
a firm decision to do or not to do something.

It's just days away from the NY and most people are trying to rack their brains for resolutions or goals that actually stick… and while most futile attempts to "lose (another) 10lbs" can be a great start… it's time to think outside the box. Stop making health and fitness a once year do over, and just start doing it.

As I'm sure most of you would expect me to say, make a fitness or health resolution, sometimes that just turns into guilt for goals not being accomplished because someone (nudge nudge) didn't take the time to really think how they were going to accomplish said goals. Feel me?

So let's have fun with this shall we?! 14 Resolutions for 2014--the biggest year of your life YET!

14 New Year Resolutions That Could Actually Stick!

1.  Take on one new project that will fuel your passion(s) and explore it! << Vague I know. But how many times have we said, "I'm going to learn Spanish!" or "I want to learn how to dance better" But this resolution will take a more detailed approach, and will require immediate action to get you going. For me personally, I'm doing one YouTube video a week>> on my passions (hiking, travel, friends, my dogs, fitness, health, fashion, bargain shopping, you name it-- stay tuned and follow me at www.youtube.com/abbyfix)

2. Keep in Touch More-- the phone works two ways. So does making plans. And so does any relationship. Takes two to tango right? I think people are slowly getting out of touch with reality and relationships--they take conscious effort. I know that I've slacked off in certain important relationships by not keeping in touch. Think about the people who make a difference in your life, your true friends (not just convenient ones), family, etc. Start making a more intentional effort to call, text, surprise in person, go to lunch with. Life is about relationships and the people you surround yourself with.

3. BE BOLD -- too many people mope around wishing they would have been invited somewhere, or missed an opportunity because they were shy, declined a date because they were nervous, said not right now to something they wanted. Instead of hiding behind "what ifs", maybes, shoulda woulda couldas, it's time to start saying YES to things that make you a tad uncomfortable, but open up doors for fun, adventure and growth. Your life is a series of choices, if you make zero that push you forward, you will sadly go in reverse, just a little slower each day. Live to GROW, don't live to DIE.

4. Validate yourself! -- Don't wait on someone else's "like" or "double tap" to validate how awesome you already are. Waiting for social media to define your worth is a waste of time, and thats coming from a social media queen who uses it for business! I don't sit around waiting on people, my phone, my computer, my blog or whatever in hopes that they like my photo 50 times. If you like it, awesome we have something in common! If not, Cest la vie! So validate yourself--like your own damn photo.. laugh at your own jokes, wear the clothes you want, post that dorky picture of you from kindergarten. (Just don't get crazy with selflies and 15 second clip videos of you staring at the camera like the one I posted below).

5. Eat the Damn Dessert once in a while (but make it clean)-- you heard me! Here's the thing, do I think you should get elbow deep in a 8 layer chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream? Well is it your birthday? If so, EF yeah you should. If you just had dessert yesterday, mmmm maybe you should just get wrist deep. But this resolution is about learning to live a little more--but with more peace of mind. I'm all about clean desserts, something thats a bit healthier but still satisfies that craving. We're human, we have tastebuds, cravings, and it's ok to reward yourself once in a while. So go on girl, eat that dessert.

6. Use the OFF button -- So going anywhere exciting to stare at your phone this weekend? OMG no way, me too... UGH. for reals people, it's only 2014--just because your iPhone is smarter than you doesn't mean you have to constantly be on it. Life outside of your phone, it's a real thing. Take a break once in a while, turn it off-go hike, walk your dogs, spend time at dinner with friends without being socially plugged in 24/7. I personally like to ditch the phone for a few hours each week, and people know that I like weekends off. Trust me, you won't miss anything you can't catch up on later, life is outside that tiny box… Try it out, could be fun!

7. Save a LOT, spend WISE-- I made my LAST big purchase for 2013-- a GO PRO! Why? Because I'm a bad ass biotch who wants to take epic adventure videos and use it for my video project. Spending wise vs. spending like a dummy. Instead of wondering where all your dough went this year, why don't you shove that in your pink pig and save it (that was not a dirty joke)! This past year I made some dumb financial mistakes, and I also made some hefty investments into my future… both of which taught me a priceless and valuable lesson: SPEND SMART, SAVE A LOT. If you don't need it, don't buy it. If it will help you move forward and towards your goals, invest when the time is right. Debt sucks, and your life will be held in bondage until you break free from those shackles. Make it your mission to pay off your debt, invest smart, and save a lot. Don't let buying become an obsession--make saving your mantra!

8. RAISE YOUR STANDARD: Ladies and gents, listen up. Don't be a doormat to your mind, other people, and events. Things happen to us, but it's all about reaction and the way we handle ourselves that counts. So RAISE that STANDARD-- if you want your life in 2014 to shine bright like a diamond, you gotta learn how to turn coal into bling bling by raising the bar, never settling for anything less than what you deserve, and go get em! You can't control everything that happens TO YOU, but you can control how you react. If your mind is your biggest frenemie-- be sure to start diving into personal development books that will help you realize your worth.
If you’re not being treated with love and respect, check your price tag. Perhaps you subconsciously marked yourself down. Because it’s YOU who tells others what you’re worth by showing them what you are willing to accept for your time and attention. So get off the clearance rack. If you don’t value yourself, no one else will either.”

9. Ditch the Makeup for a day-- I love makeup, don't get me wrong. But I also LOVE being able to touch my face or rub my eyes without being like, "OH SHIT, I forgot about that" and stressing that I just rubbed mascara all over the place and looking like a drag queen at 2am (I do love my sweet drag friends tho!) Nothing says freedom like 1. taking your bra off after a long day 2. not wearing makeup! I know it sounds scary for all you makeup prima donnas BUT guess what? Under all that powder, bronzer, glitter (maybe?), mascara and lipgloss, there's a beautiful girl. If going full monty no makeup scares you-- then go for less. Maybe a little chapstick, one layer (not 10) of mascara, and a touch of shadow. Either way, start embracing the natural YOU.

10. Keep your COMMITMENTS!-- If you're a YES MAN and you tend to vomit YES to everyone and every commitment, then lock it up sistah! You can't be everywhere at once and you surely cannot 'do it all' as much as you want to. Trust me, I tried on the Super Woman costume, and without flying capabilities, and super human strength, you aren't bullet proof or that skilled. So say YES to the things that align with your priorities, and make quality commitments. But after you make a commitment, KEEP IT! Your word is one of the most important things about your character, without it--you have little credibility and no one will trust you, lean on you or rely on you for anything. So this year, keep those commitments! if you said you would, do it. IF you have to back out gracefully, find a way to make it right.

11. Book a Trip -- Don't have a ton of money to fly to Costa Rica? Uh well it's not like half of America does either but just because you don't have the Benjamin Franklins right now--doesn't mean that you can't go get them! See here's my thing, money well spent and invested into the RIGHT things creates a wealthy and abundant life. The more comfortable you are in your 4x4 box room with your roomie who monopolizes the kitchen, well girl, that ain't livin! You have to get out there! There's a GIANT world playground waiting for you to cross the monkey bars to go down the fat slide. Even if it's a quick road trip with a friend, or a cheapie trip to the mountains, or Vegas even! IF you go to Vegas, see the sights too, don't just get wasted the whole time. Life is meant to explored, lived, captured, and remembered. Where do you want to go?! Set a projected date and a fund to start saving money for! And if you have to work a few more shifts, or get smart and open your own business, do it! If you want to see the world, it won't wait for you. You have to go for IT!

12. Stop Assuming and Judging -- PEEPS listen up. When you assume something-- you what? Make an ASS out of you and ME (ASSUME= ass out of you and me << get it?!). Don't think just because you heard so and so's life story through some twisted grape vine that you got the facts right. Ditch the gossip, focus on your own damn life. When you talk about others, you are lowering your price tag on self worth. Same goes with judgement, if you pass judgement, be ready for others to pass it onto you. Maybe try unassuming, and giving someone the benefit of the doubt.

13. GET WILD -- For my 24th birthday I went skydiving (the boyfriend took me -- AWH <3) and it was one of THEE most memorable experiences I've ever had… it felt natural,  it felt amazing and it felt FREE. For once, shake yourself up a bit. Skydive, bungee jump, zip line, run a half marathon, scuba dive, rent some jet skis, paddle board, snowboard, get physical!!! What's on your bucket list?

14. Attend a LIVE Seminar-- HUH? I know random #14 right? But I feel like this one had the biggest impact on my life thus far… Back in March 2013, I decided to go to Unleash the Power Within by Tony Robbins--and it was an experience I will NEVER forget. I can't describe to you how it turned my thinking around, I can't recreate it, but I can tell you that attending one live seminar a year to change and better your life--will do that in ten fold. Plus, you meet the coolest freakin people, you can network, you learn more about yourself then you will ever realize, you can take what you learn and apply it right away, and it has the power to strengthen your relationships, personal beliefs, and get you excited to make serious changes. Hands down, best decision I made last year!

Welp, I hope some of that resonated with your resolutions! ;-) Be intentional, be daring, be YOU!

Foot Cramps while Working Out- What to do!

So something that happens to me A LOT is foot cramps during HIIT drills, plyo drills, T25, Insanity… those types of workouts.

You know the kind that make you JUMP and bounce around and lateral drills. It hurts at times, but I know that this type of cardio is what gets my butt in shape and makes my body a lean machine.

So what do you do?

1. Get your FOOT examined at a running store! I went to this amazing running shoe store (even though I don't run) here in San Diego called Road Runner Sports and they made me stand on this weird padded thing, walk on a treadmill, and do a few other exercises so they could get a mold of my foot. Once the results came in they took me to the appropriate shoe section where narrow footed heal strikers can shop. =) I found that ASICS brand (Cumulus 15 running shoe) was perfect for my foot when it came to drills. It helped elevate the pain but it didn't completely take it away for those harder workouts. However they really helped during some shorter hikes when I know I'm going up hill!

2. Invest in a tiny golf ball. YEP you heard me right. So this crazy idea flew around a bit before I really thought it would work. I tried to roll my foot on a tennis ball but it's too soft. So one day, at the dog park I noticed a golf ball just lying there. It flew over from the golfing range right behind the park (safe right? ha!) and so I took it home and until just recently, I never tried it! It just sat there. Until this week… when my foot hurt so bad I had to take my shoes off. I'm thinking I may have really done something to my foot however if you just get the run of the mill foot cramp, rolling your foot out with a golf ball…. its what I call a FOOTGASM. HOLY TOES. it was amazing. So get down with your bad self, roll that baby out! It's dying for the release, and I feel so much better!

*Oh and to mention… that massage helped a little but not quite the same.. I had two massages and even a foot massage and the golf ball felt so much better because you can really apply the pressure and dictate how you want it to move.

If you have foot cramps and have found a method that works, post it below! =)

5 Moves to Lift and Tone Your Butt!

Lift that booty! Tighten that ass! No one wants a saggy booty right? Heck no!! I think it's almost every woman's dream to have a nice backside so they feel confident in anything-bikinis, jeans, shorts, dresses,  you name it, we wana be able to leave a room and leave an impression!

I've always had a bigger backside (she get it from her mama) and I'm grateful for it, esp since the Kate Moss days are out and curvy fit is in! Hallelujah, it's time for me AND YOU to shine! Curves are in, and the best curve of all is that booty!

Here are FIVE of my FAVORITE Booty workouts!

Curtsey Lunge: (targets hips and booty)

Oh yeah. You will feel this just about everywhere in your lower body... Start with your feet shoulders width apart, then step your right foot behind your left in a curtsey--bend both knees but make sure they don't go over your toes! Keep your back straight and chest lifted and stick that ass out! Act like you are either bowling or doing a curtsey! Repeat 15x ea side! Add weights to increase level of difficulty! Fell in love with this move in ChaLEAN Extreme!

Sumo Jack Burpees: (works inner thighs and booty)

We are taking this up a notch! Get into a plie stance, feet wide with toes turned out. Squat, come up, jump your feet together into a plank pose, jump back into a sumo squat pose, then jump your feet back together parallel. Repeat 20x! Fell in love with this move in ChaLEAN Extreme!

Donkey Kicks: (works booty)

Get on all fours baby! Hands below shoulders on the floor, hips stacked on top of  knees so your spine is in line. Or modify by bringing forearms to the floor if that feels best. Kick your leg (keep it at 90 degree bend with your knee) WAY up, then bring back into your core. For added difficulty add ankle weights and do 20x ea side. Fell in love with this move in Brazil Butt Lift!

Straight Leg Dead Lifts: (back of thighs, booty, lower back)

Nothing says sexy like a perfected dead lift. One of my FAVORITE moves because it targets the back of our thighs (which tend to be a struggle for a lot of women). With feet hips width apart, keeping your back straight, and a micro-bend in your knees, lower your upper body to about 90 degrees (or a little higher depending on your flexibility). Use weights (I do 15lbs 15x, 17.5 12x, 20lbs 8x) in both hands and slide them down the front of your legs. Come back up slowly and push hips forward, repeat!

Stability Ball Hamstring Curl: (works hamstrings, quads, core, booty)

Ah, the stability ball. My favorite piece of equipment--very versatile if you can get creative! Lying on your back, place the stability ball under your heels/calves. Lift your hips off the ground with arms at your side, then roll the ball in towards your hips while keeping them lifted. Roll back out. Repeat 20x. Squeeze your muscles as you roll in and out! FOCUS on the muscles you are working!

Healthy Snacks While Flying

Well a busy time of year is about to come up for travel, a lot of people are flying home for the holidays to see family and friends, or maybe get away on a tropical vacation while it's freezing else where!

My upcoming trips:

NYC-Sept
Cabo San Lucas-Oct
Dec- POSSIBLY Costa Rica

And while all that travel is FABULOUS, it can seriously kill a waistline and all the hard work I've done! I'm sure you've been nervous to book a trip or fly somewhere in the midst of a workout.

The good thing about my workout routine, I just push play and get moving. Right now I'm on week 2 of the Beta Phase for T25, a 25 minute 5x a week workout program I do from home. Yep, you heard right. 25 glorious, short, yet painful workout!

Here are a FEW snack ideas for your (upcoming) trip(s):

  • Cheese Sticks--opt for local made and even vegetarian. I don't personally LOVE cheese anymore--but I do like pepper jack!
  • Greek Yogurt (Get 0% and add fruit and/or Stevia) or the small Chobani ones! Pack RIGHT before your flight so they don't go bad.
  • Carrot Sticks/Celery combo with hummus
  • Oatmeal packets--or make your own--great for morning or early flights, just ask a barista or someone to heat it up for you!
  • Food Should Taste Good Chips--mmm!
  • Granola-home made is best, watch sugar content!
  • Shakeology Packets  (have a coffee place mix for you on your layover or just shake it up with water)
  • Fruit- keep in tupperware and throw in your bag right before you go to keep it cold and fresh
  • Beef Jerky--I personally do not eat meat, but this is a great option for meat lovers, but look for local made jerky or make your own.
  • Baked Pita Chips--whole grain with hummus! Already made snack packs can be found at grocery stores.
  • Nuts--don't go crazy on almonds or peanuts, moderation is key!
  • Prepped sandwiches--natural PB and jelly, turkey with avocado and cucumber, veggie sandwiches
  • Energy Bars (look for lower sugar and try not to go over 200 calories--Lara Bars, Kids Cliff Bars, Cliff bars, etc.) DO NOT eat protein bars like candy!
  • Beverages: Opt for homemade juices like Hibiscus tea (Jamaica Agua Fresca) or just plain water-- airport juices are packed with sugars, dyes, etc.
  • Fruit leather--found at Trader Joes, Sprouts, Whole Foods, etc.
  • Hard boiled eggs--pack RIGHT before the flight so they don't go bad and eat soon!

Also STRETCHING while waiting for your flight or layover is KEY--getting the blood circulating in your body again after longer flights and give your muscles a chance to wake back up! Most people experience jet lag even if there's no time change just from sitting and air pressure change.

**KEEP HYDRATED** People underestimate the amount of water they drink when they travel, keep chugging.

Happy Travels!
